Drake – “Marvin’s Room” (VIDEO)
Drake, the ruthless romantic and ludicrous lyricist is one artist who can never take a leave of absence from the music scene – gratefully so, that is! Even when he is not working on his own music, he is featured on other artists’ tracks or planning his next move. Just take a look at our site – Drake can be found in several of our posts, most of them concerning his contribution and influence on the music of other composers.
With that said, most can admit that they are more than ready to finally experience Take Care, his next album production set to launch this fall. The album is expected to be an eclectic masterpiece, with musical scientists like The Xx’s very own Jamie Smith and the R&B crooner The Weeknd assisting him in the lab. Also, with releases like “Trust Issues” and “Marvin’s Room” gracing YouTube, (and our radios) we are sure to expect some meaningful slow songs. But, never fear! “Dreams Money Can Buy” proves that his album will also contain his immensely entertaining rap flow, wordplay and thoughtfulness.
“Marvin’s Room,” his first video from the upcoming album, is a visually interestingly accompaniment to the morbidly depressing song. The great thing about it, though, is the universality of the situation – we can all say that we’ve been in the tangled situation of struggling to let go. It is powerful for an artist to depict the vulnerability of heartbreak, as well as the strive for intoxication and drunken groveling that may also occur afterwards.
