Obama White House and House Democrats search for peace

It sounds like the Obama White House has a new peacekeeping mission — with House Democrats.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders met with President Obama last night to deliver a list of grievances, ranging from basic inattention to spokesman Robert Gibbs’ statement that Republicans could take control of the House after the Nov. 2 elections because enough seats are in play.

“What they wanted to do is separate themselves from us,” said Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr., D-N.J., in The Washington Post. The Post reported that Pascrell “accused the White House of wanting to preemptively pin the blame on lawmakers running poor campaigns should Democrats lose the majority and not on Obama’s own sagging approval ratings.”
