In the current environment we have seen a lot of turmoil; indeed, a number of people foresee paradigm shifts as entire banking institutions have disappeared and the central banks play larger and larger roles in financial matters here and abroad. While some predict Armageddon, others look back at past cycles and are optimistic that not only this country, but the world, will come out stronger.

Some people have divested of stocks for gold and commodities. Some are riding out events and faithfully contributing to 401k plans or their Roth IRA. Some are rethinking dollar-cost averaging, perhaps having heard so much about shorting lately. What about you?

Finance is of vital importance to your life: neglect that importance to your own detriment. There is a lot of information available online and in numerous books and other media, but how we filter that information–our financial orienation and perspective–will influence how quickly we will achieve our goals. The first thing then is to understand ourselves.

If you really want you can look the other way and not talk about it. Don’t give up your morals for anything. This will lead to a sad and unfulfilling life.
