GOP senators: President Obama stiffs us

In this week’s closed-door session with Senate Republicans, President Barack Obama told Sen. John Barrasso he could stop playing for the TV cameras because there weren’t any in the room.

“This is closed press,” Obama snapped at Barrasso as the senator laid into the Democrats’ health care bill.

“I’m saying this out of my most firm beliefs,” Barrasso shot back.

The tense exchange — one of many during Obama’s extraordinary visit to a Senate GOP lunch this week — offers the latest evidence of the chasm that separates the president and the GOP.

Senate Republicans say a big part of the problem is communication — or a lack of it.
