TMZ broke the news that rapper, Heavy D was being rushed to a Los Angeles hospital this afternoon. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. due to complications of pneumonia.

Heavy D’s death comes as a shock to many. He recently performed at the BET Hip-Hop Awards and at the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert in Wales.

It’s the third celebrity death to take place recently.  Legendary boxer Joe Frazier and CBS commentator Andy Rooney both passed away earlier this week.

Our thoughts go to his family and friends.
