US Will Be The First To Get Google TV

Google’s chief executive announced that the company will launch its television service in the United States this fall and worldwide next year as it broadens its reach from PCs to TVs.

The service, which will allow for full Internet browsing via television sets, will be free, according to CEO Eric Schmidt. Google will work with a variety of program makers and electronics manufacturers to bring it to consumers.

Samsung and Sony are two potential partners who could work with Google to bring the service to their television sets.

The announcement comes less than a week after rival Apple Inc unveiled its latest Apple TV product and will intensify the battle for drawing in consumers and potentially for the $180 billion global TV advertising market.
