scanpst may fail, not because it fails but because you either have Outlook open, or when you closed outlook the file was not released. So I'm sure that has something to do with it. By the way, Office 2010 is also incompatible with Windows 7: it's windows won't adopt the colors and borders you set, at least not if you use the Windows Classic theme.
